“Sridevi Bungalow” lands Priya Prakash Varrier in trouble

Priya Prakash Varrier, the ORU Adaar Love fame had winked her way into our hearts in 2018. This year she is back and is all set to debut in Bollywood with her latest film “Sridevi Bungalow”. No sooner was the trailed of the film, which is allegedly claimed to be loosely based on the life of the famous bollywood star Sridevi, was out than it stirred up several controversies. It all cost Priya spending her time in and out of the courts.

Priya has found herself in the wake of yet another storm, but this one is much different as compared to what she ended up with last year.  This time, she seems to have touched a raw nerve.

The director, Prasanth Mambully has not quite an appeasing response to this question. He seems to be caught offgaurd. When Boney Kapoor slapped a legal notice on the film, the mere replied with, “My film is a suspense thriller. I told him (Boney Kapoor) that Sridevi is a common name. My film’s character also happens to be an actress.”

The scenes had an uncanny resemblance to Sridevi’s lifestyle:

Sridevi was a renowned bollywood actress. Her sudden death was a devastating shock for the entire country and almost a year later, just for the sake of earning fame and money, film is being made using her name is simply not taken well by the public. The trailer has a scene which shows  the actress drowning herself in a bathtub without the knowledge of her family which seems to be done purposely. It is not taken well by the Kapoors. Moreover, in the teaser, you will find Varrier’s character signing her name as “Sreedevi.” This leads to the arise of the question that then why is the film alphabetically named “Sridevi”?

In another scene, you can find “Sridevi/Sreedevi” drinking herself to sleep. This us back to the unfateful day February 2018, when Sridevi died fell in her bathtub being inebriated and died.

What hurts more is the fact that the makers didn’t even ask Boney Kapoor’s consent before proceeding with this movie and considering the fact that it hasn’t been even a year that she died. It was only expecte out of Boney Kapoor to have slapped a case against the film.
